Kids and Great Friends

I just got back from one of the most peaceful weekends I have had in a long time.

My family and I went to visit my brother-in-law and sister-in-law at their lake cabin in northern Wisconsin. Our families are very good friends. As I have mentioned we have two kids in college. Their daughter is going to be a junior in college and their son is starting this college this fall.

When we all first got married we lived in the same small town and did many things together. As life happened we ended up living four hours apart and tried to stay connected as much as possible. But when our kids got busy it was really hard.

Anyway it was just amazing to be by each other for four days. It seems like nothing ever changed except they got older and my wife and I stayed young. (Just kidding)

The thing that was so cool was listening and interacting with all of the kids. They range from 18 to 24.

All I can tell you is this. When you are raising your kids and it seems like they don’t listen to you and the lessons and advice you are trying to give them never sinks in.

Well don’t believe that. They do hear it. It just takes a while for them to make all that advice their own.

So please as parents never give up talking to your kids about money, about goal setting, about values, and anything else you feel is important.

It might seem like they aren’t listening or maybe even think that we are old and stupid.

But believe me they do hear it. Keep believing in them.
